Last night, fan events for the highly-anticipated Deadpool were held in both New York City and Los Angeles, where fans were promised new footage. There were more than a few surprises in store for these fans, who were treated to an unfinished cut of the entire movie. Ryan Reynolds appeared in person at the New York event, while director Tim Miller was present at the Los Angeles event alongside stars T.J. Miller and Brianna Hildebrand, comic book creator Rob Liefeld, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, producer Simon Kinberg, and comics legend Stan Lee. ComicBook.com was also in attendance, confirming that there will be a post-credit scene that fans will want to stick around for.
While Marvel Studios is well-known for their post-credit tags, 20th Century Fox has also used them for its X-Men movies like X-Men: Days of Future Past. While no specific details were given about this scene, Screen Rant reports that only the Los Angeles audience was shown a post-credit scene, and the New York crowd was not. The site speculates that the scene shown to the L.A. crowd may be only part of a bigger scene that will debut in theaters on February 12. Screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick also told Collider back in November that the studio was working on a “phenomenal” post-credits scene. Here’s what he had to say below.
“It’s one of those ones that’s gonna require some doing, so it may not come together, and if so, I don’t know, we’ll either do a plan be or none at all. I think we should have one, I mean, we really feel like we should have one.”
The end credits scene showed in L.A. was described as “pretty straight-forward,” leading to speculation that it may just be a placeholder for the real scene that will be unveiled in theaters. It’s possible that the filmmakers are still working on this final piece of the movie, since the studio did say that the movie fans saw last night was an “unfinished cut,” so we’ll have to wait and see. Regardless, fans have been taking to social media to sing their praises of the movie after last night’s screening.
We have a sampling of tweets from fans who have praised Deadpool on social media, including The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, who compared the movie to Shaun of the Dead and praised the film’s inventive opening credits sequence, which he said is the best he’s ever seen. Take a look at these tweets below, and stay tuned for more on Deadpool, before it hits theaters February 12.

I’d compare it to Shaun Of The Dead. Great, dramatic horror movie, that is also hilarious. @deadpoolmovie is the same for superheroes.
